After a short campaign, GRANT community breathes a sigh of relief as the anti-protest bill was voted down 8-6 in the legislative council (upper house) on Thursday 25th March. GRANT's vigil attracted 200-300 people which sent a strong message to politicians and attracted widespread media coverage. GRANT vows to keep this campaign ongoing as we see the threat to democracy in Tasmania still in a precarious situation in the current political sphere and think there will be more action to come on this.
