Over the last 7 years, anti-protest laws have been attempted to pass through parliament in Lutruwita (Tasmania). Our 2021 'Defend our Democracy' campaign was successful in convincing parliament members to vote down anti-protest laws. This was an incredible display of organised community action, and goes to show that GRANT has a powerful voice, amplifying the needs of community members.

 

However, this is an ongoing fight. Both major parties intend to keep trying to pass various laws that erode our democracy and make peaceful protest a crime.  We will continue to stand up for the voices of all Tasmanians, and stand in solidarity with those who fight to protect their democratic rights.
